The original Flagg Hall itself dates back to before the Domesday Book. The hall is not open to the public, but does have a working farm within its grounds. The family of Finney, who lived at the hall for many years, are believed to be descendants of the famous Fiennes family, of whom Baron John de Fiennes was awarded with the honour of "Warden of the Cinque Ports" in 1086 by none other than William the Conqueror. On the windowsill of the staircase in the hall, sits a human skull, reputed to be that of one of the Fynney doctors. It is said that it cannot be removed without weird and unexpected things happening!
