The village hall was built in 1931, the bricks for the build being carted from Monyash Bricks by the menfolk of Flagg. Messers. William and Herbert Lomas, then of Flagg Hall, donated the ground the village hall now stands on. The chosen builders for the project were the Hodgkinson Brothers of Cressbrook.
In 1990, the Village Hall Committee were faced with the need to modernise the hall somewhat, adding brand new kitchen facilities and wheelchair access. The village rallied round the cause with a series of fund-raising days known as "Flagg Day", which were a huge success and contributed greatly to the cost of the work. With the extra aid of grants, the work was able to be completed.
Today, some forteen years on, the village hall is in desperate need of refurbishment yet again, and the villagers are rallying once again to try and raise the money. The return of "Flagg Day" is certainly on the cards, along with the application for grants. There is a lot of work to be done, so if anyone out there has any ideas on fund-raising, or indeed huge piles of cash they just don't happen to need, please contact the webmaster on flaggvillage@tiscali.co.uk.
